Accounts and daily record of work performed by Leonard Hayes of Upper Darby and West Philadelphia, Pa. Daily record begins on Oct. 7, 1867 and continues through Dec. 23, 1898. There are a few entries for events in 1849 and 1858. Describes planting and harvesting rye, clover, vegetables and orchard fruits; butchering hogs; sawing lumber, building fences, carpentry; attending church services at Blockley Baptist Church, M. E. Church, and Dr. Jones Church; attending funerals, fairs, parades, and meetings of the Protection Lodge and Aucturas Lodge; and attending the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia in 1876. Mentions work and visits with a number of prominent Upper Darby families. Most daily entries are one line in length, many include some comments on the weather.
